Fatal Crash west of Heyburn
HEYBURN, IDAHO – Idaho State Police are investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on May 17, 2026, at 2:01 P.M., eastbound I84 at milepost 206, west of Heyburn.
A 76-year-old male from Heyburn, Idaho, was driving eastbound on I84 at milepost 206 in a 2024 Land Rover Defender. The Land Rover went off the left shoulder and struck an embankment, which caused the vehicle to roll.
The driver of the Land Rover was transported via air ambulance to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver was wearing a seatbelt.
The roadway was closed for approximately two hours.
The Idaho State Police were assisted by Minidoka County Sheriff’s Office, Heyburn Police Department, Cassia County Sheriff’s Office, West End Fire Department, Idaho Transportation Department, Minidoka Memorial Emergency Response Ambulance and Life-Flight Air Ambulance.
