Fatal Motorcycle Crash on SH53 in Rathdrum, ID

The Idaho State Police are investigating a single-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred on September 14, 2026, at approximately 10:32 p.m. at the junction of SH 53 and SH 41 in Rathdrum, ID.

A 23 year-old male from Post Falls, Idaho, was driving a 2024 Yamaha R7 motorcycle on SH 53 when the motorcycle left the roadway on the right shoulder and struck a road sign. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Rathdrum Police Department, Northern Lakes Fire Department, and Kootenai County Coroner’s Office assisted Troopers at the scene. SH 53 was closed temporarily during the investigation. Next of kin has been notified. The crash remains under investigation.
