On Sunday, August 6, 2017, at approximately 6:47 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle, fatality crash, on Interstate 84 near milepost 81, in Elmore County.
Charles Williams, 61, of Coos Bay, Oregon, was driving east in a 1997 Ford Explorer when he drove off the left shoulder, overcorrected, and rolled, coming to rest in the eastbound lanes. Williams was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.
Williams was transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where he succumbed to his injuries. Next of kin has been notified.
Both eastbound lanes of travel were blocked for approximately one hour. The left lane continued to be blocked for an additional hour while crews investigated.
