Fatality Crash in Jerome
JEROME, Idaho – Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatality collision that occurred at 4:53 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, on I84 at milepost 171, in Jerome County.
A blue 2006 Honda Pilot driven by a 33-year-old female, of Twin Falls, ID was traveling westbound on I84 in the right lane and broke down with her hazards on. A 2022 Volvo Semi-tractor driven by a 63-year-old male, of Virginia Beach, VA was also traveling westbound in the right lane. The Semi-tractor then rear-ended the Honda Pilot and went sideways into the jersey barrier.
The driver of the Honda Pilot succumbed to her injuries and was wearing her seat-belt. The driver of the Volvo Semi-tractor was wearing his seat-belt and was not transported.
The driver of the Volvo Semi-tractor a 63-year-old male of Virginia Beach, VA, was arrested on probable cause for felony vehicular manslaughter and booked into the Jerome County Jail.
The eastbound lanes were blocked for approximately six and a half hours to allow emergency personnel to assist those involved and clear the scene. The westbound lanes are still blocked. Check 511.idaho.gov for updated road conditions and blockage.
Idaho State Police was assisted by Jerome County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), Magic Valley Paramedics, Jerome Rural Fire, and Jerome City Fire.
The incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
