On Saturday, June 23, 2018, at approximately 8:42 p.m. Idaho State Police investigated a motorcycle crash on State Highway 24 near milepost 67, just east of the Shoshone city limits.

Frankie Bennett Jr., 56, of Burley, was riding a 2000 Kawasaki motorcycle east on State Highway 24 when he drove off the road, lost control of the motorcycle, and crashed. Bennett was ejected from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Bennett's next of kin has been notified.

Highway 24 was completely blocked for about 1 hour and 20 minutes, until one lane was open. The lanes were completely cleared just before 1:00 a.m. The crash remains under investigation.
