Fatality Crash US95 at Milepost 379

Idaho State Police is investigating a fatal crash which occurred at approximately 11:23 AM on May 15, 2024, at US 95 near milepost 379 in Benewah County. A 45-year-old female from Pullman Washington driving a grey 2019 Ford Escape was involved in a head on collision with a 31-year-old male from Toledo Ohio driving a 2020 Volvo Tractor Trailer. The driver and sole occupant of the Ford Escape was critically injured and died at the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the Volvo Tractor sustained critical injuries and was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital. The Benewah County Coroner’s Office will release the decedent’s identity and determine the cause and manner of death. Traffic on US 95 was blocked in both directions for approximately 4 hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved. After approximately 4 hours, the roadway was reopened with a single lane of travel to allow traffic to pass. This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
