On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at approximately 7:10 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a fatality crash northbound US95 at 9th St, in Parma. Gustavo Neri, 22, of Caldwell, was traveling northbound on US95 in a 2004 Ford Mustang. Lawrence Handel, 72, of Hermiston, was walking across US95 and was struck by Neri. Handel succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.

Neri was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The northbound lanes were blocked for approximately 2 hours. The crash is still under investigation. Next of kin has been notified.
