At approximately 2:10 PM today, September 23rd, 2014, the Idaho State Police investigated a property damage crash westbound on I84 at milepost 228. A correction from earlier information, this location is west of the Cotterel Port of Entry, but six miles east of the I86/I84 Junction. Ricky Barnes, age 56 of Fort Worth, Texas was driving west in a 2015 Mack Truck hauling three other 2015 Mack trucks. The rear vehicle broke loose, coming to rest sideways across both westbound lanes of travel. Both westbound lanes are now open. The investigation is ongoing.

Update:
The right lane is now open and traffic is able to move past the crash scene in that lane. The left lane remains blocked. This is a non-injury crash.

At this time, the Idaho State Police is investigating a crash in the westbound lanes of I84 at milepost 228, approximately one mile west of the I84/I86 junction. Both lanes of westbound travel are blocked by the crash, although traffic is able to move slowly past the crash scene on the shoulder. It is recommended that motorists avoid the area if possible.
