Free Alcohol Server Training Offered in Coeur d’Alene

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Idaho State Police Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) will host a free Alcohol Beverage Seller & Server Training on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.

This training is designed to provide alcohol licensees and employees with current information on Idaho law and practical strategies to ensure safe and lawful alcohol service. The course will be offered at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., with each session lasting approximately three hours. Preregistration is required.

The instruction will focus on key areas that directly impact public safety and business compliance, including:

• Current Idaho alcohol laws
• Administrative penalties and criminal sanctions
• On-premises and off-premises service requirements
• Prevention of over-service and impairment recognition
• Laws related to minors and alcohol
• Identification of false or altered identification
• Prohibited acts, including gambling violations

The training is open to all alcohol license holders and employees, including those working in grocery stores, convenience stores, restaurants, bars, resorts, wineries, breweries, and other licensed establishments. A certificate of attendance will be issued upon completion.

“This is a proactive risk reduction measure. Establishments that invest in employee education will reduce liability, prevent violations, and directly contribute to safer communities,” ABC Lt Kirk Grothaus said. “Alcohol-related incidents, including over-service and sales to minors, remain a consistent factor in crashes, assaults, and other criminal activity. Proper training addresses these risks at the point of sale.”

ABC encourages all licensees to ensure their staff are trained, informed, and operate within the law. Compliance is not just regulatory; it is a public safety responsibility.
