High-speed motorcycle crash on I-84 under investigation by Idaho State Police
ADA COUNTY, Idaho – The Idaho State Police (ISP) is investigating a four-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday, May 20, on westbound Interstate 84 near milepost 43 in Ada County. Just after 3:00 p.m., a 25-year-old male from the Treasure Valley was riding a green Kawasaki ZX600 sportbike on I-84. According to witness statements and preliminary evidence, the motorcycle traveled at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour while splitting lanes.
During the maneuver, the motorcycle struck three separate vehicles, causing a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles. The rider, who was wearing a helmet, riding pants, and riding boots, sustained significant non-life-threatening injuries, including road rash and broken bones. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
No other serious injuries were reported. All involved vehicles remained at the scene.
The 25-year-old rider was criminally charged with reckless driving.
As warmer weather brings more motorcycles onto Idaho’s highways, ISP reminds all motorcyclists to ride responsibly. Reckless riding behaviors- including excessive speed, lane splitting, and weaving through traffic- will be strictly enforced and may result in arrest and vehicle impoundment. Unsafe speeds and aggressive maneuvers endanger the rider and everyone else on the roadway.
Enforcement patrols are active statewide and will continue throughout the spring and summer.
