Idaho State Police Accepting Applications for Trooper Positions

MERIDIAN, Idaho – The Idaho State Police (ISP) is actively seeking dedicated individuals to join its ranks as commissioned troopers. Applications are now open for the next ISP training academy, which begins in July 2025.

“Serving as an ISP trooper is more than a career—it’s an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Idahoans,” said Lieutenant Colonel Fritz Zweigart, Chief of Operations. “We are looking for men and women who embody integrity, professionalism, and a strong sense of duty. ISP troopers are leaders in their communities, tackling complex investigations, ensuring roadway safety, and responding to critical incidents. If you’re ready for a career that challenges you to be your best while serving others, we encourage you to apply.”

The selection process includes a written examination, physical fitness test, oral interview, thorough background investigation, and medical and psychological evaluations. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 21 years old, high school graduates (or hold a GED equivalent), possess or be eligible for an Idaho driver’s license, and complete all required background checks.

ISP has openings in districts across the state, and applicants choose their preferred district. “A career with ISP is an opportunity to serve your community while growing personally and professionally,” said Zweigart. “We provide advanced training, cutting-edge technology, and a strong support network to help our troopers succeed. If you’re ready to start a rewarding and meaningful career, now is the time to apply.”

At ISP, our core values – leadership, integrity, fairness, teamwork, respect, personal accountability, and exceptional service – guide everything we do as we remain committed to protecting lives, upholding the law, and serving Idaho with excellence.
