Idaho State Police announces promotion of Jens Pattis to Major

MERIDIAN, Idaho – The Idaho State Police (ISP) is proud to announce the promotion of Jens Pattis to the rank of Major. In his new role, Major Pattis will lead ISP’s Western Command, overseeing Investigations, Executive Protection and Capitol Security, District 3, Forensic Services, Regional Communications Centers, and will participate on the ICJC Human Trafficking Subcommittee.

Major Pattis brings more than two decades of service, leadership, and specialized experience to his new position. Before joining ISP, he served six years in the United States Army as an M1A1 Armor Crewman and began his ISP career in 2004. He graduated from Advanced Training Class (ATC) #29 and worked in District 3 Patrol. In 2007, he was selected for the Executive Protection Unit and assigned as a Capitol Trooper. Three years later, he joined the ISP Motors Unit, where he worked until late 2012, when he was promoted to Sergeant in District 3 Patrol.

In 2017, Pattis returned to lead the Motors Unit as its supervisor. His leadership trajectory continued with a promotion to Patrol Lieutenant in District 3 in 2021, followed by his appointment as Captain of the Regional Communication Center in early 2022.

Major Pattis is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command (Class #474) and the FBI National Academy (Session #287).
