Idaho State Police Hosts Training for Wedding Venues and Mobile Bars
MERIDIAN, Idaho — The Idaho State Police Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) announces an upcoming training session tailored for businesses and individuals actively involved in wedding or event planning, mobile bars, and restaurants or bars that cater.
With the expansion of alcohol-related services, many questions have risen since the COVID-19 pandemic regarding the legal and safe operation of catering events, particularly at unlicensed premises. This training addresses those concerns, clarifies misinformation, and provides valuable tools to help businesses thrive while complying with state and local regulations.
“This training is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with professionals in the industry and ensure we’re all working from the same playbook. By coming together, we can support growth while maintaining compliance with the law,” said ABC Detective Jeff Rodean. “We are committed to fostering a collaborative and informed approach to addressing the challenges faced by the mobile catering and alcohol service industry. This event will promote legal, safe, and successful business practices.”
The two-hour training occurs on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Boise Centre on the Grove (East Wing Room 410, located at 850 W. Front St., Boise). Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with training beginning promptly at 6:00 p.m.
This informative session will focus on key aspects of the industry, including catering permits, the application of alcohol laws for both licensed and unlicensed premises, hiring practices for catering employees, “dry hire” arrangements, and the proper storage of alcohol. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of operating legally and safely in this evolving landscape, equipped with practical tools and knowledge.
The session is open to all licensees, managers, and employees of wedding venues, restaurants, and bars that offer catering services. A Q&A panel featuring representatives from Boise Police Alcohol Compliance, ABC, a licensed mobile bar operator, a wedding venue owner, and a wedding planner with extensive experience in their respective fields will provide attendees with direct access to experts to answer questions and offer insights.
Registration is required – Reserve your spot.
