Idaho State Police investigating two-vehicle injury crash near Sandpoint, Idaho

Sandpoint, Idaho – Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred August 7, 2025, at approximately 3:28 p.m., on US 95 at mile marker 486, just north of Sandpoint, Idaho. A 39-year-old male from Sandpoint was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup northbound on US 95. At the same time, an 88-year-old female, also from Sandpoint, was traveling in the same direction in a 2010 Subaru Forester and had entered the right turning lane in preparation to make a right-hand turn onto Samuels Road.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the GMC failed to maintain its lane of travel and struck the rear of the Subaru Forester while it was in the turn lane.

The driver of the GMC was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the Subaru was transported by LifeFlight to a local medical facility for treatment.

The roadway for northbound and southbound traffic was not blocked and remained open during the investigation. The Idaho State Police continue to investigate the incident.
