Idaho State Police Involved in Officer-Involved Use of Force Incident Near Mountain Home
MERIDIAN, Idaho – The Elmore County Sheriff’s Office is leading an investigation into an officer-involved shooting incident involving Idaho State Police (ISP) troopers near Mountain Home.
Shortly after midnight on September 9, a trooper near milepost 172 on I-84 in Jerome County observed a Honda Accord traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. A second trooper spotted the same vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. When the driver failed to stop, both troopers pursued the Honda westbound. During the pursuit the Honda was driven recklessly at high speeds. Several unsuccessful attempts were made to stop the vehicle using spike strips.

Westbound I-84 is closed at milepost 98 for the investigation, which is expected to last several hours.
There were no reports of any other injuries during this incident.
The Elmore County Coroner’s Office will take custody of the deceased to determine the cause and manner of death and will release the individual’s identity after proper notification.
