Idaho State Police Promotes Captain Fritz Zweigart to Lieutenant Colonel, Deputy Director and Chief of Operations
MERIDIAN, Idaho —The Idaho State Police (ISP) announces Captain Fritz Zweigart’s promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, where he will serve as a Deputy Director and Chief of Operations. With more than two decades of dedicated service, Zweigart has consistently demonstrated his commitment to public safety, strong leadership, and serving the people of Idaho.
Starting his journey with the Idaho State Police in March 2004, Zweigart has served in multiple districts—Districts 3, 5, and 6—where he honed diverse skills in various roles. His experience includes serving as a Patrol Lieutenant, Patrol Sergeant, Honor Guard member, Field Training Officer (FTO), Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) Instructor, Level III Inspector, Executive Protection Detail member, and Detective. His adaptability and performance in these critical roles underscore his unwavering commitment to the highest standards of public service.
Zweigart’s achievements extend beyond his field experience. A graduate of the FBI National Academy (Class #279), he holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Virginia University and a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. His educational background and commitment to professional development further enhance his leadership capabilities within the law enforcement community, instilling confidence in his ability to lead.
