Safe Driving Days

May 18th and 19th, 2012

On May 18th and 19th, the Idaho State Police will be hosting Safe Driving Days, aimed at educating teens on the dangers of distracted and impaired driving. This event is open to the public and will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 18th, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 19th. The event is being held at the Idaho State Police complex in Meridian. There will be several events including; tricycle racing, inflatable obstacle course, and the golf cart texting challenge.

Teens and their families can see how distractions caused by cell phones, smart phones, and texting, significantly delay their ability to respond and react to what is happening on the roads around them. Our goal is to help everyone arrive at their destination safely.

A press conference is scheduled for Friday, May 18th at 1130 a.m. at the Idaho State Police Meridian Complex and is open to anyone interested in attending. We are honored the Sauer family will be participating in the press conference and supporting our efforts during Safe Driving Days. The press conference will follow the ceremonies being held in honor of Idaho's fallen law enforcement officers at the Idaho Peace Officers Memorial.
