Idaho State Police to host hiring open house this Saturday

POCATELLO, Idaho — The Idaho State Police will host a hiring open house Saturday for anyone interested in becoming an Idaho State Trooper and applying for the upcoming academy.

The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the ISP District 5 office, 5255 S. 5th Ave. in Pocatello. Prospective applicants and anyone considering a career in law enforcement are encouraged to attend.

Attendees will get an inside look at the hiring process, academy training and what happens after graduation. ISP personnel will be available to answer questions, explain expectations and provide straightforward information about the path from applicant to Idaho State Trooper.

Topics will include:

Compensation and benefits — An overview of starting pay, benefits and career opportunities with ISP.

Hiring and testing process — A step-by-step look at the application, testing and selection process.

Physical fitness requirements — Information on physical testing standards and expectations for applicants.

Applicant disqualifiers — A discussion of common disqualifiers and background requirements.

ISP Academy — A look at the academy timeline, training environment and expectations for recruits.

Field training program — What new troopers can expect after graduation as they transition from the academy to working in the field.

Whether you are ready to apply or simply considering law enforcement as a career, the open house is an opportunity to meet ISP personnel, ask questions and learn what the job really involves.
