Idaho State Police troopers begin collecting donations for annual 10 Counties of Christmas fundraiser

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Idaho State Police is teaming up with Broulim’s Fresh Foods to help put a holiday meal on the table for families in need as the annual 10 Counties of Christmas donation drive begins today.

From Nov. 6 through Nov. 25, troopers will be at Broulim’s stores across eastern Idaho collecting donations to provide holiday meals for local families.

What began in 2017 with just 53 holiday meals has grown into a tradition of giving across eastern Idaho. Last year, the initiative provided meals to 744 families throughout the 10 counties served by ISP District 6.

“We have never had to turn a family away, and this year we expect the need to be greater than ever,” said Sgt. Blake Higley, who started 10 Counties of Christmas in 2017. “I know money is tight for a lot of families right now, but even a small donation can make a big difference.”

The fundraiser is made possible through a partnership with Broulim’s Fresh Foods, generous sponsorships from local businesses, including Westmark Credit Union, and the support of local schools and community members. Broulim’s prepares grocery packages containing everything needed for a traditional holiday meal, while local schools help identify families who could benefit from the additional support. Troopers will deliver the meals in December.

As the initiative enters its 10th year, ISP hopes the continued generosity of eastern Idaho residents will allow 10 Counties of Christmas to reach even more families this holiday season.

Community members can donate at participating Broulim’s locations through Nov. 25, either at booths staffed by troopers or at the checkout register.
