Impaired Driver Hits ISP Patrol Car During Traffic Stop for Another Impaired Driver in Lewiston

LEWISTON – A Lapwai woman drove into the back of an Idaho State Police patrol car early Sunday morning as a trooper was making a DUI arrest of another driver.
At approximately 3 a.m. on Highway 95 near milepost 311, Deborah Everett, 28 of Lapwai, drove her 2007 Chevy Malibu into the rear of patrol car while the ISP trooper was investigating a separate impaired driving incident.   The trooper had just placed a 25-year-old man under arrest for impaired driving and the man was sitting in the backseat of the patrol car at the time of the crash.  Both the man and Everett were taken to the hospital where they were both treated and released. The two troopers on the scene were not injured.
The Lewiston Police Department is investigating the crash.  Lewiston officers cited and released Everett for driving under the influence and failing to move over for an emergency vehicle.
