On April 17th, 2018, at 10:29 am, the Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle rollover crash on SH8 at milepost 8.5, 4 miles east of Moscow, Idaho. Christian Aguirre-Dowell, 19 years, of Bonners Ferry, ID, was driving a black 2002 Toyota Celica, eastbound on SH8 when he drove off the south side of the road. Mr. Aguirre-Dowell then overcorrected and crossed both east and westbound lanes, leaving the north edge of the roadway, striking the embankment. The vehicle came to rest half submerged in a pond. Mr. Aguirre-Dowell and his passenger, Yarina Madrigal, 19 years, of Caldwell, ID, were helped out of the vehicle by bystanders on scene. Ms. Madrigal was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. It is unknown if Mr. Aguirre-Dowell was wearing his seatbelt. Both subjects were transported to Gritman Medical Center in Moscow, Idaho.
