On September 19, 2018, at approximately 4:53 pm the Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash northbound on US95 at milepost 503.8, south of Bonners Ferry. A black Nissan pickup driven by Matthew Brown, 19, of Bonners Ferry was traveling northbound when he crossed left of center into the southbound lane and collided with a gold Lexus sedan driven by Shannon Gala, 49, of Sandpoint. Brown was transported via Life Flight to Kootenai Health. Gala was transported via ambulance to Boundary Community Hospital. Gala was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, however Brown was not. The highway was closed for investigation and cleanup for approximately 2.5 hours. The investigation is continuing.
