Injury crash Northbound US95 MP447, Athol, Idaho

The Idaho State Police are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on October 23, 2024, at approximately 6:35 pm in Kootenai County.

The driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling south on US95 near milepost 447 and crossed the center median, colliding head-on with a Toyota Avalon that was traveling north.

The Hyundai was occupied by a 78-year-old female driver from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, who was transported by ground ambulance. The Toyota was occupied by a 37-year-old female and her 13-year-old daughter from Cocolalla, Idaho. The 37-year-old driver was transported by ground ambulance and the 13-year-old was transported by Life Flight. Occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The highway was blocked for nearly three hours.
