On April 4, 2019 at 7:27pm the Idaho State Police responded to an injury crash on the Old Spiral Highway at milepost 3.6. Lukus M. Thornton, 40 years old of Lewiston, was southbound going too fast to negotiate the corner, crossed over the northbound lane of travel, and left the north side of the roadway. Mr. Thornton and his passenger, 38 year old Samantha Hooker of Juliaetta, were transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Lewiston. No seatbelts were worn by either occupant. Mr. Thornton was cited for reckless driving.
