On October 2, 2013, at approximately 7:26 am, Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash on U.S. Highway 30 near milepost 229, outside of Hansen, ID.
Salvador Centeno, 58, of Kimberly, ID, was traveling east on U.S. Highway 30 in a 1978 John Deere Tractor. George Rietkerk, 55, of Wendell, ID, was also traveling east on U.S. Highway 30 in a 2006 Dodge R3500 that was pulling a livestock trailer. Rietkerk failed to yield and struck the tractor from behind.
Both drivers were transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. Centeno was then transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, ID. Both lanes of U.S. Highway 30 were blocked for approximately two and a half hours.
The crash remains under investigation.
