On April 4th, 2017 at approximately 9:45 PM, an injury crash occurred on SH53 near milepost 11.7, just east of Rathdrum, ID. A red 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, driven by John Vanscyoc(Athol,ID) was traveling eastbound and went left of center colliding head on with a semi-truck that was traveling westbound. The Dodge Ram pickup spun around and hit another vehicle traveling westbound behind the semi-truck, a grey 2007 Chevy Avalanche pickup, driven by Derek Fredericks (Sagle, ID). The semi-truck came to rest in the south ditch of the highway. The road was blocked for approximately 1-hour. The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup (John Vanscyoc) was transported to Kootenai Health, all other drivers were uninjured. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts. The investigation continues.
