Injury Crash, SH53/Prairie Ave, Kootenai County

Kootenai County, Idaho – On July 8, 2025, at approximately 5:15 a.m., Idaho State Police responded to an injury crash on SH53 at Prairie Ave. A GMC truck, driven by a 48-year-old male from Hayden, ID was traveling eastbound on SH53 and failed to stop at the red light, causing them to collide with a red Ford Escape, driven by a 61-year-old female from Couer d’Alene ID and a Kenworth tractor and trailer, driven by a 49-year-old male from Troy, MT. The 61-year-old female driver of the Ford was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other parties were transported. The roadway was blocked for approximately 4 hours. The investigation is ongoing.
