INCIDENT NARRATIVE: Helms was traveling eastbound US12 near milepost 16, where she failed to negotiate a curve and went off the south side of the roadway. Helms overcorrected back onto the roadway into the jersey barrier on the north side (river side). Her vehicle was forced back across both lanes and into the rocks on the south side of the roadway. Helms passenger was properly secured in a car seat. The highway was intermittently blocked for 1 hour and 40 minutes to remove the vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
