On Friday 7/21/2023 at 09:45am, Idaho State Police responded to a report of a vehicle crash at westbound US12, mile marker 37.5 in Nez Perce County. The 56 year-old male driver from Kooskia, ID was driving westbound on US12 when he failed to maintain his lane. The vehicle left the roadway and struck the guard rail before going down an embankment into the river. The 77 year-old female passenger from Kamiah, ID was transported to a local hospital. The westbound lane of US12 was closed for two hours. It is unknown if the occupants were wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation.
