ISP Investigates a Three-Vehicle Crash Near Burley, Idaho

CASSIA, Idaho – Idaho State Police is investigating a three-vehicle crash that at the intersection of I84 and Yale Rd, East of Burley.

At approximately 11:03 p.m. on November 22, 2024, a 25-year-old male from Texas was traveling westbound on I-84 in a Penske truck when he exited the roadway and collided with a guard rail.  The vehicle overturned and came to a rest in the left lane facing eastbound. Due to the Penske truck not being illuminated, a 49-year-old male driving a Hyundai Freightliner was driving westbound and swerved to miss the objects in the roadway that were left by the Penske truck and came to rest in the median.  A 33-year-old driving a Wabash semi was also driving westbound when they ran over the guard rail after witnessing the Hyundai crash.

As precaution, both the driver of the Penske truck and the driver of the Hyundai were transported via ground ambulance to a local hospital.

I-84 at milepost 228 is still blocked at this time while emergency crews clear the scene. When the investigation at the scene concludes, the lanes will reopen.

The Idaho Transportation Department is assisting with traffic control.

Idaho State Police was assisted by Cassia County EMS and Malta Ambulance.

This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
