ISP to increase patrols Friday, looking for speeders

BURLEY, Idaho – The Idaho State Police will increase patrols tomorrow along a 60-mile stretch of Interstate 84, from the Interstate 86 split to the Utah border. Troopers will be enforcing speed limits as part of a multi-state effort with Washington, Oregon, Montana and Alaska.

“Speed limits exist for a reason – to save lives,” Lieutenant Tyler Barrett said. “We’ll be issuing citations to those who choose to ignore them. Speeding is one of the leading factors in serious crashes and fatalities.”

According to the Office of Highway Safety, 126 people have died on Idaho roads so far in 2025 – up from 113 at this time last year. During the “100 Deadliest Days” between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the state has recorded at least 50 traffic fatalities, compared to 40 during the same period in 2024.

Drivers are urged to follow posted speed limits, allow extra travel time, and adjust their speed for road, weather and traffic conditions. To report a dangerous driver, dial *ISP (*477) from your cell phone.
