Law enforcement to increase DUI patrols during Hot August Nights weekend
LEWISTON, Idaho — As thousands gather in the Lewiston area for Hot August Nights, law enforcement agencies are stepping up efforts to keep the community safe. Starting tonight and continuing through Saturday, the Idaho State Police, Lewiston Police Department, and Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office will increase patrols in and around the annual classic car show.
The additional patrols will focus on stopping impaired driving and other unsafe behaviors that put the public at risk.
“We want everyone to enjoy the event, but that starts with making safe choices,” Captain Mooney said. “If you plan to drink, then also plan ahead for a sober ride home. Choosing to drive impaired can have lifelong consequences — it’s not worth it.”
The public is encouraged to call *ISP (*477) to report impaired or unsafe driving.
