Multi-Agency Response Assists Female in Distress; Suspect in Custody
IDAHO COUNTY, Idaho – At approximately 4:00 a.m. this morning, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a female in distress. According to the report, the woman had entered a local business and informed a cashier she needed help before leaving the scene.
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance, and a nearby Idaho State Police (ISP) trooper quickly located the woman. The trooper engaged with the woman and provided her with advice on how to escape what she described as a dangerous situation.
During the initial investigation, the woman reported that she had been drugged and transported from Oregon by a male suspect who resides locally. She indicated she had been held against her will at a residence in the area.
Based on the information provided and further investigative efforts, law enforcement developed probable cause, and the ISP SWAT team arrested the male suspect without incident.
The Idaho State Police, Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, and Idaho County Sheriff’s Office worked closely together to bring the situation to a safe resolution. The investigation is ongoing.
“This was a strong example of what can happen when agencies work together quickly and effectively,” ISP Lieutenant Darren Gilbertson said. “The safety of the victim was our top priority, and we’re proud of how all the involved personnel responded. Our investigation continues.”
No additional details are being released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.
