On July 8, 2013, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a multiple vehicle crash on US20 at milepost 318 near County Line Road in Jefferson County.

Marcelino Trejo-Labara, 45, of Idaho Falls was driving a dump truck westbound on US20 near milepost 318, when he lost control of the dump truck where it traveled through median and guardrail into oncoming eastbound traffic. The dump truck struck a Silver 2013 Chevy Uplander being driven by David Cofman, 46, of Minnesota which then struck a Silver 2011 Chevy Suburban being driven by Machelle Summers, 34, of Rexburg. Trejo's vehicle continued through the lanes of travel, through a second guardrail and down an embankment where it rolled. A small amount of fuel was reported leaking from the dump truck but has since been cleaned up by DEQ.

Trejo, Summers, Cofman and the five occupants in his vehicle were all transported by ground ambulance to Easter Idaho Regional Medical Center. The right lane of travel on the eastbound side of the crash was blocked for several hours while the crash scene was cleared. Seatbelts were worn by all occupants. The Idaho State Police was assisted by Jefferson and Bonneville Counties and the Idaho Transportation Department. Since the investigation of the crash, all occupants involved have been treated and released from EIRMC.

The investigation is ongoing.
