On January 10, 2011, at approximately 10:00 am the Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle crash that caused both southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near mile marker 49.5 to be shut down for approximately one hour. Jack Vernon, 78, of Idaho Falls, was driving southbound in a tan Dodge Ram pulling a travel trailer, when he hit ice causing the trailer to overturn. The Dodge and the trailer were blocking both lanes of travel until a wrecker could get the vehicle upright and moving again. Trooper Orr was assisted at the scene by Trooper Barnes, Master Corporal Sellers, and Specialist Stouse and the Idaho Transportation Department. The scene is now clear.
