Pedestrian Fatality Crash in Cassia County

CASSIA COUNTY, Idaho – Idaho State Police is investigating a vehicle verses pedestrian fatality crash that occurred at 03:35 a.m, August 25, 2025, at eastbound I84 at milepost 234.7, in Cassia County.

 A 22-year-old male, from Rupert, was traveling westbound on the eastbound shoulder in a 1999 Chrysler 300, He then crashed, exited his vehicle, and stood in the eastbound lanes of travel.

 A 30-year-old male, from Saratoga Springs, UT was traveling eastbound in a 2023 Freightliner Semi Truck.

 The Freightliner struck the pedestrian in the lane of travel, where he succumbed to his injuries.

 The driver of the Freightliner was wearing a seatbelt and was not transported.

The eastbound lane of travel was blocked for approximately 5 hours.

 This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
