Press Conference / Texting Races
May 18, 2012
11:30 am
To kick of the two day safe driving event being held today and tomorrow at the Idaho State Police complex, local police, media, and radio personalities will be competing in a texting tricycle race. The head to head challenge will begin at 11:30 am at the Idaho State Police Complex in Meridian. On-air personalities from 103.3, the Idaho Press Tribune, and the Idaho State Police are scheduled to compete.
Local media are invited to attend. ISP staff will be available to answer any questions.
The event is being held in conjunction with the Safe Driving Days scheduled at the Idaho State Police on May 18th and 19th, and is open to the public. There will be a golf cart obstacle race, dui goggles, inflatable obstacles course, a virtual driving simulator, as well as seatbelt and other demonstrations being done throughout the day.
Distracted drivers are a growing problem on Idaho roads. Our goal is to reduce the number of people injured and killed every year in crashes that could have been avoided.
