Pursuit Leads to Crash Involving ISP Trooper in Idaho Falls

Idaho Falls, Idaho – On Friday evening, May 9, at approximately 10:00 p.m., an Idaho State Police (ISP) trooper was involved in a vehicle pursuit that ended in a collision at the intersection of Yellowstone Highway and Pancheri Drive in Idaho Falls.

The pursuit began after the trooper observed a vehicle associated with a felony warrant. When a traffic stop was attempted, the suspect fled at a high rate of speed, and multiple spike strip attempts were unsuccessful.

During the pursuit, the trooper was involved in a collision with an uninvolved civilian vehicle. Both the trooper and the civilian driver sustained what are believed to be minor injuries. The trooper was treated and released at the scene. The civilian driver was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The suspect vehicle was not apprehended, and the individual remains at large.

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the crash investigation. Questions regarding the crash should be directed to their office.

ISP is thankful that the crash and injuries appear non-life-threatening and that no bystanders were harmed. Consistent with agency procedures following any pursuit and crash involving a trooper, ISP will conduct a full internal review of the incident.

Updates will be provided as information becomes available.
