On October 13, 2010, just after 9:00 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle fatality crash on State Highway 32 at milepost 14.8, approximately 15 miles southeast of Ashton.

Joel Herrera, 35, of Ashton, was traveling north on State Highway 32 in a 2007 Chevrolet pickup when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road, causing his vehicle to leave the road off the right side. The vehicle rolled and came to rest on its driver's side. Herrera was wearing a seatbelt, but died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash is under investigation by Cpl. Coverely. He was assisted at the scene by Cpl. Murdock, Fremont County Sheriff's deputies, Ashton Ambulance EMS personnel, and the North Fremont County Fire Department.
