On Wednesday December 15, 2016, at approximately 11:23 pm, Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle crash, on I84 near milepost 151, west of Wendell.

Ernst Winter, 50, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was westbound in a 2016 Freightliner when the vehicle went off the right shoulder, down an embankment, and came to rest in a field. Winters was transported by ground ambulance to North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding, where he passed away.

This crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police. Next of kin has been notified.
