Single Vehicle Fatal Crash in Boise County
BOISE COUNTY, Idaho – Idaho State Police is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 6:02 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, northbound on State Highway 55 near mile marker 79, north of Banks.
A 2012 Ford F350, driven by a 45-year-old male from Caldwell, was traveling northbound on State Highway 55 when the vehicle left the roadway on the right shoulder the driver overcorrected losing control across the lanes and traveled down the embankment into the Payette River.
The driver and a 25-year-old male passenger were able to exit the vehicle. The driver succumbed at the scene, and the passenger was transported to a local hospital by air ambulance.
Idaho State Police were assisted by Boise County Sheriff Office, Garden Valley EMS and Fire, Horseshoe Bend Fire, Boise City Swift Water Rescue, Life Flight Network, and Idaho Department of Transportation.
All lanes were blocked for approximately 12 hours.
This incident remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
