On February 28, 2020, at approximately 11:34 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a crash on interstate 84, near milepost 29, in Caldwell. Anthony Rodriguez, 37, of San Antonio, Texas, was traveling westbound in a 2007 Ford Fusion. The Vehicle struck the median side barrier and came to rest in the left lane.

Rodriguez was transported by ground ambulance to St Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Westbound lanes were blocked for approximately one and a half hours.
