Structure fire in Mountain Home prompts evacuations and multi-agency response
ELMORE COUNTY, Idaho — Emergency responders are responding to multiple structure fires near the intersection of Smith Road and Hamilton Road in Elmore County after the fire was reported shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Several responding law enforcement officers have been injured, but the extent of their injuries is unknown. Reports say civilians may have been injured; however, these reports are unconfirmed.
The Elmore County Sheriff’s Office is managing the incident and emergency response efforts, with multiple law enforcement agencies assisting with evacuations and traffic control in the area. The fire has been contained, but the scene remains active with responders performing damage assessments and searching the affected areas.
Anyone displaced by the fire is asked to go to the Mountain Home Elks Lodge #227 at 325 S 3rd W St, Mountain Home, ID 83647, where the American Red Cross is assisting evacuees.
The public is asked to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to work safely. Drivers and residents should remain alert for emergency vehicles and follow all directions from law enforcement and first responders.
As this remains an active incident, no additional information is expected to be released tonight. There are no additional facts to provide for the media or public at this time. The Elmore County Sheriff will hold a press conference at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office located at 2255 E 8th N, Mountain Home, ID 83647.
