Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Suspect Wanted on Serious Charges
BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho – On April 8, 2025, at approximately 11:55 a.m., the Idaho State Police (ISP) in Idaho Falls was notified by the Soda Springs Police Department of a male violating a No Contact Order in the area.
Troopers located the suspect’s vehicle near Ammon Road and Lincoln Road. The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Samual Zane Erickson, stopped his vehicle and instructed a female passenger to exit the car just as a trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
A second trooper in the vicinity located the female nearby. She was found without shoes and was determined to be the protected party listed in the active No Contact Order involving Erickson.
During the stop on the vehicle, troopers conducted a DUI investigation, and Erickson was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Further investigation confirmed that the No Contact Order violation had occurred. Additionally, it was confirmed that Erickson had an active bench warrant out of Caribou County for violations of conditions for his release from jail. His original charges included Attempted Murder, Attempted Strangulation, and Domestic Battery inflicting Traumatic Injury.
Erickson was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on probable cause for Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Violation of a No Contact Order, and the outstanding Caribou County bench warrant.
The Idaho State Police continues to work closely with partner agencies to ensure the safety of all Idahoans and bring those who violate the law to justice.
