On December 12, 2012 at approximately 2:30 p.m. the Idaho State Police investigated a train versus vehicle crash on US93 near mile marker 55.5 south of Jerome.

Jess Linch, 64 of Jerome, was southbound in a 2007 Cadillac Escalade. Linch failed to yield at the train crossing and was struck on the driver's side by a westbound train. The vehicle was pushed 400 yards along the railroad track. Linch was wearing his seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Next of kin has been notified.

Crash is still under investigation by Idaho State Police.
