On Thursday, August 3, 2017, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle crash westbound on Interstate 84 at milepost 196, in Jerome County.

Howard Dixon, 74, of Pocatello, Idaho was driving westbound on Interstate 84 in a 2012 Subaru Legacy. Cortney Cook, 26, of Idaho Falls, Idaho was also driving eastbound in a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. Cook failed to yield for slowing traffic and collided with the Subaru Legacy.

Dixon and Cook were both wearing a seatbelt.

The westbound lanes of travel were blocked for approximately two hours.
