Two Vehicle Injury Crash in Minidoka County
MINIDOKA COUNTY, ID – Idaho State Police is investigating a serious injury two-vehicle crash that occurred at 9:44 PM, August 26th,2026, on southbound State Highway 24 at milepost 3.1, just west of Rupert.
A 47-year-old male, from Rupert, driving a 2014 Subaru Legacy, was driving the wrong way on State Highway 24, northbound in the southbound lanes. A 40-year-old male, from Burley, driving a 2017 Hyundai Elantra, was traveling southbound on the interstate.
The Subaru Legacy collided head on with the Hyundai Elantra. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the Elantra was transported via Air Ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the Legacy was transported via ground ambulance to the local hospital.
Both southbound lanes of travel were blocked for approximately three hours.
Idaho State Police was assisted by Minidoka Sheriff, Rupert Police Department, East End Fire, LifeFlight, Heyburn Police Department and Idaho Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
