On January 7, 2013 at approximately 4:43 p.m, the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle crash that occurred westbound Interstate 84 at milepost 162, in Jerome County.

Ilda M. Arizmendi, 33 of Wendell, ID, was traveling east on Interstate 84 in a 1998 Dodge Caravan. Arizmendi attempted to change lanes and lost control of the vehicle, went into the median, then into oncoming traffic of westbound Interstate 84, going head-on with a 2006 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Greg S. Peasnall, 50 of Hagerman, ID. Both vehicles came to rest in the fast lane of westbound traffic.

Both drivers were transported by ground ambulance to St. Lukes Magic Valley Center.

All occupants of both vehicles involved were wearing their seatbelts and weather was a factor in the crash.

Both westbound lanes were blocked for approximately two and a half hours.
