On Friday, December 14, 2018, at 10:06 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a vehicle versus pedestrian crash westbound Interstate 84 at milepost 44, in Meridian.
Tawny Taylor, 25, of Boise, ID, was driving westbound in a 2009 Kia Optima when a pedestrian tried to cross the Interstate from the shoulder to the median and was struck by Taylor's vehicle. The pedestrian was transported by ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, ID, where they succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the pedestrian has not been confirmed. Next of kin notifications are pending.
Taylor and her passenger, Dustin Reyna, 28, of Boise, ID, were wearing seatbelts. The westbound lanes of Interstate 84 were blocked for one and a half hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
