The driver of the vehicle has been identified, after turning himself in, as 24 year old Bernave Avila of Jerome. The male child that was struck and killed is 2 year old Damian Garcia.

A suspect has been identified. Idaho State Police is working with the Jerome County Prosecutor's Office while this case is still under investigation. Charges are pending.

On September 9, 2014, at approximately 6:20 p.m., a two year old male was struck and killed while crossing 21st Avenue, west of Tiger Drive, in Jerome, Idaho. The vehicle that struck the child was described by witnesses as a black four door Dodge Ram Pickup with a silver toolbox in the bed. The pickup, believed to be occupied by two hispanic males, did not stop.
